Time for my latest cupcake! Wheeee! I decided that for this month’s Cupcake Hero I’d try to avoid buying ingredients, and I almost completely succeeded.

This is going to be a rather unusual post, one of those rare, non-sugary things that I come up with every once in a great while. Not only that, but it’s flat-out healthy, and came together out of a particularly successful spring trip to the Greenmarket.
The September 2009 Daring Bakers’ challenge was hosted by Steph of A Whisk and a Spoon. She chose the French treat, Vols-au-Vent based on the Puff Pastry recipe by Michel Richard from the cookbook Baking With Julia by Dorie Greenspan.
What do you get when you cross the desire to use up some extra ingredients in your fridge and the desire to use a slightly neglected favorite pan at the same time?
Frozen yogurt is something I wanted to play around with some more, especially after the horrible bout of tummy aches I suffered recently, probably due to my excessive ice-cream-eating and cheese-nibbling. That’s a bad lactose-intolerant!
I had hoped my next post was going to be about a different ice creamy treat (on a stick!), but alas, there was a problem when it came time to photograph. I’ll get a post up about the slightly-problematic-but-still-really-delicious aforementioned concoction soon, but in the meantime, here’s something that’ll make the wait more bearable.

Today I’m presenting my first non-food recipe. Actually, that’s a lie. It’s made of food. But it wouldn’t taste very good. Not in these proportions, anyway. It does however happen to be a quick and awesome thing you can make for Mother’s Day.
