Well, it happened again. I bought into the “pumpkin shortage” in October and am left with an extra can of orange vegetable goop. I love the goop, but it’s hard to think of things to do with it, especially after the holidays and all the baking and cookies and… …Wait, cookies? Hm, maybe not so [...]

Wasn’t it Just, Like, October?
Sunday, January 2nd, 2011Hey, it’s 2011! I sure haven’t been around much lately. This year I’m going to try to work on that. I’m not going to force anything or stress about deadlines, though. Some weeks and months I just don’t have as much free time or energy and nothing bad will happen if I don’t enter this [...]

Fear of Meltage
Thursday, June 3rd, 2010Currently, I’m sitting here in a pool of sweat, consuming as much icy deliciousness as I can. Sorbet, iced tea, iced coffee, you know. What’s that you say? It’s hot where you are, too? And you’re afraid that the ice cream you want so badly to cool you off will melt on the trip home? [...]

Belated But Delicious
Tuesday, May 18th, 2010Though I’m a lot busier than I used to be, I still happily take special requests from friends. A couple months ago an old friend told me she wanted Margarita cookies for her birthday in May. So I made some!

The Problem with Leftovers
Wednesday, March 10th, 2010Well, not so much leftovers as bits of ingredients. A few egg whites here, a handful of walnuts there… A bit of honey and a dash of cardamom later and I had some delicious, slightly exotic cookies. So what’s the problem?

Daring Bakers December 2009: Home for the Holidays
Saturday, December 26th, 2009So! I still haven’t found the time or energy to really get a coherent blog post together (and the majority of my holiday goodies have been failing MISERABLY) and things aren’t looking good for January either (can you say nearly a month of exams and multi-day projects?) but the other bakers are a-posting. Since I’m [...]

Oh Snap!
Thursday, September 10th, 2009It probably goes without saying that school is giving me many opportunities I would not have otherwise had. Like the chance to make something that would be tasted not only by fellow students and the chef instructors, but the deans of the school themselves. You may have heard of them – they are a quartet [...]

Thursday, August 20th, 2009Holy crap y’all. I’m back on the internet! Before I start regaling you with tales of my adventures and new recipes, I have a little catching up to do. Namely, my Daring Bakers post from LAST MONTH, which I unfortunately did not have time to write before I moved. Though I made these the week [...]
